    Charles Alonzo Burns (January 3, – Decem ) was a Massachusetts, USA, businessman and politician who served on the Board of Aldermen and as the fifteenth mayor of Somerville, Massachusetts.. Biography. Burns was born on January 3, , in Wilton, New Hampshire to Charles Henry and Sarah Naomi (Mills) Burns.. Burns attended St Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire, . The love story is well documented by living descendants. That is, in the 19th century Higley book (see citations, p 32), the author spoke with people who got the story directly from Higleys' children. Briefly, after Capt John's father Jonathan died at an early age, Capt John's mother apprenticed him out.
